Lights! Cabinets! Action!

Busy week with cabinets and lighting. Don at Westridge Cabinets was really helpful, not overly exciting pics of our choices lol
Last supplier appointment was at Robinson Lighting with Lance....we didn't  do any upgrades here as we really liked all the standards as well as it's something we could change ourselves later. We also get wholesale prices after we move into our house so thats where Jen will be lamp shopping!!!

So here's the pics!

Cabinet Handles with our cabinet choice

The cut we chose and essentially the same color!

Finished product of a cabinet in the same cut with the same handles but diff color
We're still waivering on the light valance for the under cabinet lighting but only because we can more than likely do it for a lower price than what they're charging.

Well now that all of our suppliers have everything, it won't be long before they break ground!!! Then comes all the pics of our house in progress, so exciting!!!! If all goes well, we'll be in our new house in 6 months :)

Decisions, decisions, & more decisions...

So last night we got to go to the Design Studio and meet with our designer Tabitha, she's super nice and has a great eye for design. We knew exactly what we wanted to upgrade so we zipped through that part of our consultation really fast.

Upgrades
  • 9ft ceilings on the main floor
  • 3 picture windows in the dining area
  • Stand up shower in the master ensuite instead of the tub
  • Rough in plumbing for our fridge and for the basement
  • Under the cabinet lighting in the kitchen
  • Storage in the his & hers closets
We wanted to keep on a budget and do mostly structural upgrades. Ty is super handy and with all the men in our families we knew alot of the other stuff we could do later on.

Since we finished the structural and electrical so fast we were able to pick our interiors!!! This is the part Jen was looking forward to the most!!! We took some pics of what we chose but they just don't look quite the same on camera.
Hardwood

Carpet, darker color is the wall & lighter is the baseboards and trim

Our kitchen cabinets...and Jen lol

Tomorrow we go to Westridge Cabinets to choose more interior and then next Tuesday we go to Robinson Lighting and after that they'll break ground! We're on what they referred to as a "build by block", they want all the houses on that particular block up at the same time (July) so they're pushing us through this process faster than they normally would because everyone else already did this. Better late than never!!! It's a good thing we were so excited about the house we had time to figure out exactly what we wanted!
So after we left the design centre we headed up to our showhome which was finally furnished. It turns out our designer designed the entire showhome in Cochrane so she knew exactly what we liked about it and helped us figure out what the standard versions of something were...like the hardwood. We did a little video tour but it won't upload for some reason, & we posted the pics on Jen's facebook, so check them out! The showhome will be the exact same layout as the one we're building!

You know you're growing up when....

picking out appliances is exciting! LOL
We went to Trail last night to check out our standard appliances and possibly upgrade any. The standard appliances they offer are all really nice. They're all stainless steel, made by Whirlpool. We knew going in we were definitely going to upgrade our fridge, we wanted one with a ice maker and water. We looked at a couple and then chose the last one. We also decided to upgrade our washer/dryer set from top loading to front loading. They seem to be a more popular choice these days and for the difference in price we couldn't complain!
So here's all the pics of what we chose...we're pretty sure people are going to think we're just the biggest dorks out there but this our first house, we're like little kids in a candy store excited LOL

Being in love

is awesome!

The best part is that we just fit, it's like nothing either of us have ever experienced or expected. We feel truly blessed to have found one another & are excited about building a future together. What better way to start then to build a house...a place we can both call home!
So we looked in magazines, drove around the city, googled new communities and toured numerous showhomes until we found "the perfect place". It's a 3 bedroom, 2 storey starter home in Copperfield, right around the corner from the community pond.
So just before Christmas we got the good news that house neither of us could stop thinking about for weeks would be ours, what a fantastic Christmas present.

Join us on the road of excitement and I'm sure some frustration that will lead us to our new home!
